randomly checked my substack dashboard and surprised to see that this post i wrote around 2 years ago had 89 views and 6 new subscribers, it’s huge considering that i haven’t wrote here since then
why i didn’t continue the newsletter?
i couldn’t manage to craft the ‘perfect’ newsletter, the initial idea of my newsletter came to me while i was working on coffee and code (feels cringe about these designs), the idea with coffee and code was to share the kind of things i felt the students in my college should be aware of hence chose instagram as the medium for it.
when it comes to the newsletter i thought of it as low effort(no designing part) version of coffee and code, but i couldn’t write the newsletter since i got busy with other things. i tried to get back at it multiple times and even wrote a few drafts, but didn’t publish it since it was not the perfect version according to me
fear of judgement
i’m not a perfectionist then why did i hesitate to publish the newsletter, the only answer that came to me was the fear of judgement, what people will think about it, is it good, does this provide value?
i believed i was someone who never cared about what others think but deep down somewhere it was still there, looking back, there have been instances where i didn’t do things because of the fear of judgement. this self-realisation was much needed for me
what’s the future of this newsletter?
i’m going to write regularly from now on:
obviously to improve my writing skills, i believe there is a lot to improve
a promise to myself to not hold back from anything due to fear of judgement
to document things i find interesting
what to expect?
there’s not a clear answer, but i can ensure that:
most of the things i write will be in and around tech and life in general
it will be a human written newsletter
should you subscribe?
that’s your personal choice, having said that i would like you to give this newsletter a 3-edition time, check the next 3 editions and see if you like to the way it is shaping up, if it interests you then subscribe or if you have an intuition that this will be worth your time subscribe right away :)
